Road to Worlds Most Famous Brevet Race Paris-Brest (1230km)-Final Part

Finally here we are…

Ending one of my Dreams…My Big Adventure…

Final Kilometers of my biggest race in life…
Checkpoint Mortagne au Perche 1061 km cycled.Almost 200 to go.

Final and crucial decision. In a very difficult point.
Cyclists lying on the floor around me sleeping, or injured, or exhausted…

Me and Kostas were drinking a hot Power Shot of Coffee and preparing ourselves for
our last Midnight Express Ride ! Too dark , too cold and of course really too uncomfortable to sit on the saddle.
One Mouth, One voice, One Decision! Relax, Gather last resources of strength that  had left inside us and Hit the Road !!!

This night was one of the longest nights of my life!
We were fighting to stay awake  and also keep our legs pedaling in a normal speed…
Maybe it will sound unbelievable but our skin pores were bleeding at one point!
Also illusions were coming again…Trees singing and dancing and ghost cyclists joining our cause! I couldn’t understand what was real and what my imagination was!
I will always remember one picture that shocked.Watching myself overpasses me with the bicycle and me trying to catch him…I even now cannot believe these mind games…
Kostas from the other side was singing loud so he could keep himself awake! But I could understand it was so really difficult also for him!

First sun rays started warming us and killing all these illusions!!!
We were almost there…We could see far ahead Paris!!!
Speed was raising and blood started pumping harder and harder as we were reaching the Finish line.
People cheering in the road and our spirit really indestructible at that point!!!
We were almost there..Few kilometers for accomplishing the Impossible until now..

The biggest and shiniest smile ever…Our feet couldn’t feel the pain..It was something like flying towards the Finish line…So bizarre and unique feelings and senses…

Until..The point we saw the Stadium with the Finish line…
We did it Kostas..We did it…
Time to take our last Stamp in a Road Book that we will always remember…

We couldn’t really walk to the desk if it was needed we will crawl there…
And believe it I saw really bizarre images there..People crawling or other carrying each other…
Human Power has no limits Indeed…

People with special needs, People overaged, and people really young…
And most of them completed this Human Feat!!!

I really cannot express the feeling after finishing…I believe some feelings cannot expressed by words and they lose the impact if you try to  fit them in regular words…

I completed my journey…The impossible had become possible…

Last thing that I want from you to remember the quotes that kept me going in this amazing journey…

-Nothing is impossible; there are ways that lead to everything, and if we had sufficient will we should always have sufficient means. It is often merely for an excuse that we say things are impossible. Francois de La Rochefoucauld

-You can't put a limit on anything. The more you dream, the farther you get.
