Moms Love the Spinning® Program
Empowerment is the foundation of the Spinning® program. I first fell in love with Spinning as a way to work through the chaos and stress of everyday life. As a single mom, I began taking classes regularly with Master Instructor Anthony Musemici. He was instrumental in making me feel empowered and in control of my fitness and my life. Consequently, I became certified myself, and have been pleased to impart that sense of empowerment to my students. Now, as a mother of four, I understand how difficult it can be to fit exercise into an already packed schedule. Spinning allows me to bring the outside ride indoors and to create a total mind/body experience that is not only a fabulous physical workout, but also provides mental clarity and creates strength of character. As we continue to challenge ourselves, each and every rider leaves the room feeling better than when he or she entered. Now, that's empowering!
Spinning has forever changed my life.
About one year ago, I was overweight, depressed, fatigued and lacked self-esteem. The challenges and stress of being a new mom, along with a mild case of postpartum depression, consumed me. As a result, I engaged in eating for the sake of avoiding my feelings and to distract me from my day to day stresses. Last spring, I hit my breaking point. I felt like I could no longer recognize myself in the mirror and in pictures. I had no energy to perform my motherly duties and felt like I couldn’t keep up with the growing energy of my (at that time) one year old son. I felt defeated.
That was until a close friend of mine suggested I start taking Spinning classes. A new Spinning studio had opened up near my house and I saw it as a sign. At first I could barely muster the energy to go 1-2 times a week. But Spinning gave me exactly what I needed to meet my weight loss/health goals and it wasn’t long before I became a "regular" at my Spinning studio. Going to Spinning class not only facilitated my weight loss goals, but also gave me an hour to do something for myself without any interruption. At a time when I was battling emotional stress, it was almost therapeutic for me to decompress in a positive, healthy way (versus emotional eating). In addition, the group exercise experience allowed me to connect with people who had a common interest in health. There is a real sense of camaraderie at the studio I attend. Specifically, my Spinning instructors pushed me outside my comfort zone when I needed it most during class. In fact, they continue to inspire me and develop my love for Spinning with each class I attend.
I now ride 4-5 times a week and am a completely different person. Thanks to Spinning and a healthy diet, I have lost 43 lb. Finally, I am the "me" I wanted to be. I am a stronger person, both inside and out! There’s no more “I can’t” in my vocabulary. I challenge myself more outside of class. I eat healthier. I move faster. I stand up taller. I am more outgoing. I love life more. I now have more energy to engage in outdoor activities with my two year old son, versus being on the sidelines. I can play, run and chase after my busy boy without feeling like I need to take a break to catch my breath or to recover. I feel energized and empowered. What I am most proud about is that I can be a positive role model to my son given my new, healthy lifestyle. Life is good again and I know it will stay that way thanks to Spinning.
Yes, Spinning has forever changed my life and for that I am deeply thankful!!!
I became a mom six years ago and I gained 20 kilos during each of my three pregnancies. My self-esteem was low then, as I didn’t like what the mirror reflected every time I looked at it. I used to be slim and always very committed to my esthetic matters. But I had turned into a totally different person when I became a mom and that feeling made me really sad.
Two years ago after the birth of my son, I decided to start going to the gym. When I took a look at the different group classes, I never imagined that choosing Spinning classes would change my life forever. I started losing weight very fast without following a strict diet. My self confidence raised and I could wear many of the clothes I had given up. I even had to buy new clothes to wear! I was mentally relieved as well, as I really enjoyed going to my Spinning classes and making new friends in class. I never imagined I would feel this good two years ago when I attended my first Spinning class. I recommend it to every single person on Earth and I thank my instructors Oscar Arias and Christian Schultheis for their support in the wonderful world of Spinning!
I starting going to Spinning classes before my son was born about ten years ago. He is 9 ½ years old and my daughter is 6 ½. I am a working mom, also running a small law practice. I never truly enjoyed exercise until I found Spinning. And no matter what else I try, be it Zumba®, boot camp or Piloxing, Spinning is “it” for me. I have had a few instructors over the years who have truly educated, inspired and pushed me. Not only does Spinning push me physically, it pushes me psychologically as well. Recently I have been taking solo Spinning rides at my gym—just me, the Spinner® bike, an empty dark room and my favorite music. After ten years, I know how to give myself a great workout, even without the instructor! Though with the right instructor, I am transcended, having even been brought to tears during a ride or two! I love Spinning and cannot live without it.
Spinning has been a crucial aspect of my life. I got hooked back in 2005 and became a certified instructor in 2008. When I found out I was pregnant with my first child in early 2010, I didn't let that stop me from being physically active. I continued running through 37 weeks and taught Spinning classes through 39 weeks, stopping the week I had my daughter.
Within a week or two of having my daughter, I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight. Seriously. Once I was able to return to exercising again, I took two Spinning classes before returning to teaching. I love sharing my knowledge with others and I host an 'Intro to Spinning' class at my gym once or twice a month.
I truly think Spinning helps me be a better mom. It gives me time to take care of me, which makes me better able to take care of my family. Staying physically active, especially as a mom, is very important to me, as I want to be the greatest role model I can be for my family.
My husband and I have been married almost seven years. We have one son who is 4 years old and I have two wonderful step-sons, ages 11 and 13. Three years ago, we found ourselves overweight and way out of shape. My husband and I began exercising with short walks, pushing my little one in a stroller. We also got a family membership to our local YMCA. After one year, my husband came home one day and told me that he discovered an awesome new workout—a Spinning class. A couple weeks later, I tried it for myself. Fast-forward a couple years and my husband is a Spinning instructor and I attend his classes three days a week. Our YMCA has a child care room where our little one plays and then he comes down to watch us clean up after class. At our heaviest, my husband weighed 336lb. and I was around 215lb. He's down 130lb and I'm down about 50lb. We are a super-busy family, but with one step at a time, we've become a super-healthy family too! By far the biggest reason for our success is Spinning. We are absolutely addicted and we're always making new music playlists for class. Even my 4-year-old hears a song in the car and says "Mommy, this would be a good Spinning song!"
We've spread the word and recruited many new addicts as well! Thanks!
I am very excited to share my Spinning story. I am currently the mother of two, a three year old and nine month old. About a year ago, I was introduced to Spinning by my brother and loved it. I found it really complemented my love of fitness and running. Soon after having my daughter, I took the certification course to become an instructor.
Now I am a regular Spinning teacher and in the best shape of my life. Not only have the physical results been amazing as far as my recovery from pregnancy, but the mental accomplishments are just as rewarding. My energy is way up and I now run a Tuesday night Spinning class that books up every week. I love to share my enthusiasm with riders of all fitness and age levels and I am hoping to develop a Spinning class for kids and their parents at the studio where I teach, as I have recently taken the Spinning for Kids online course on spinning.com. So while am new to the Spinning community, I look forward to becoming an active member in the organization.
