A Blind Man Helps Others See the Light
Two years ago, US Army Captain Ivan Castro was
serving in Iraq when he lost his eyesight in a mortar attack, but that
didn’t stop him from living a normal life. Today, Ivan is an active
duty captain in the Army, the only blind officer serving in the Special
Forces—and a Spinning instructor.
Currently, you can find Ivan leading one of the
classes for the Wounded Warriors Brigade in Fort Bragg, which is made
up of wounded soldiers in various stages of recovery. Twice a week, the
soldiers participate in Spinning classes as part of their therapy, and
as a Spinning instructor, Ivan has been a role model to his
brigade.
Ivan is one amazing individual. He has forged ahead
at full speed and has inspired others in similar circumstances to do
the same.
