The Best Post-Workout Drink: Milk
new studies have confirmed earlier research that drinking milk
post-workout has significant health and weight loss benefits.
Published in the British Journal of Nutrition,
a study performed by researchers at Loughborough University’s
School of Sports and Exercise Sciences concluded that drinking milk
after a workout helped rehydrate exercisers by replacing and retaining
important minerals lost through sweat. The exercisers in the study who
drank water and sports drinks excreted more minerals through urination
after the workout.
at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario found that the men in their
study who drank milk after weight training gained 60 percent more
muscle and lost more fat during the 12-week evaluation than men who
drank sports drinks. The results of the study were published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
